Before: Dan R. Quigley
Decision Rendered: December 19, 2007
Original Language: English

Subject terms:

Grievance – Suspension – Grievor’s actions meant to embarrass manager

The grievor took a picture of her manager asleep at his desk and emailed it to some colleagues along with a disparaging comment – the manager’s supervisor imposed a three-day suspension – that was later reduced to one day – the grievor alleged that her behaviour was whistle-blowing – the adjudicator found that by sending the picture to her colleagues, the grievor had meant to embarrass and humiliate her manager – the adjudicator found that the three-day suspension, later reduced to one day, was appropriate in the circumstances.

Grievance denied.
