Grievance – Call-back pay – No request from authorized employer representative
The grievor was called, outside his normal hours of work, by another employee to unlock the door at the workplace – the grievor asked to be paid overtime for a call-back – the employer refused because it had not authorized the call-back – the adjudicator found that, although there may be emergency situations where it would be appropriate for an employee to go to the workplace without being called back by an authorized employer representative, it was not the case here – the grievor did not attempt to verify with a supervisor whether he should go unlock the door for his colleague, and there was no emergency.
Grievance denied.
