Grievances – Staffing – Internal recourse – Discrimination – Bargaining agent activities – Family status – Adjudicator’s jurisdiction

The grievor filed three grievances alleging violations of the anti-discrimination clause of the collective agreement – one grievance was about an appointment to an acting position, allegedly denied the grievor because of his bargaining agent activities – the two other grievances were about a competition from which the grievor was excluded for failing to participate – the grievor alleged that he was excluded because of his union activities and family status – the adjudicator ruled that he did not have jurisdiction to hear the first grievance because the grievor had access to another recourse for resolving the dispute – the adjudicator denied the two other grievances because the grievor did not establish that his exclusion was attributable to discrimination by the employer.

Grievances denied.
